Seek Diabetes Awareness
Our aim is to raise awareness to diabetes and diabetes related illnesses, a disease that many people begin to suffer with, not recognising the early signs. With your help and support, our goal is to reach parts of the world that cannot afford the simple blood tests, a blood pressure test or even have the knowledge to recognise diabetes symptoms.
Studies suggest you are most likely to suffer from diabetes if you are of South Asian, African-Caribbean or Middle Eastern descent. In the developing world, lack of health support, cost and ignorance only expedite the problem. These problems allow diabetes to develop and it is then diagnosed very late, if at all and sometimes diagnosed as Type 1 Diabetes (insulin dependent). At this late stage of diagnosis and due to improper treatment many die before or soon afterwards.

In the UK 3% of the population are known to have diabetes.
Globally it is estimated that 6% or approximately 230million people are known to have the disease and the figures are increasing at an alarming rate. Every 10 seconds a person dies worldwide from diabetes-related diseases and the death rates are predicted to rise by 25% over the next decade.
Obesity pushes up Diabetes in Midlands.
Diabetes is set to double by 2025 in the Midlands, as a result of the region’s growing Obesity Crisis.
Presently 225,000 people in the Midlands are diagnosed with Diabetes; while a further 50,000 are unaware they have the condition. Eight out of Ten people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are over weight.
